I emailed you what feels like decades ago,
probably during the summer months, nonetheless, I am a huge fan,
got to see your work at the sculpture park in Loveland, CO in June, so great!
I too am a metal muncher, and I recently came across this great wax coating
that I’ve been applying to my work that really finishes the piece well! I use a spray gun
and after I grind and buff the hell out of my work, I hit the piece with a mixture of salt, vinegar & hydrogen peroxide, let it sit for about 30 minutes, spray it down with water, let it dry off and then coat it with this wax finish… holy shit! it really looks great!! I’ve been telling my clients that the finish they see will stay on there for at least a year if they decide to keep the work outside… what do you think? I haven’t looked into it via the company that makes the stuff, but I wanted to see what you may know. Again, I’m a MEGA fan and whenever I need inspiration I turn to your work! I’m sure you’ve seen his work, but if you haven’t already, check out John Lopez’s work! HOLY SMOKES! he’s out of one of the Dakota’s, wonderful work- a bit more to my style at the moment, I’ve got these wisconsinites begging for more rusty birds and cows and other various quadriplegia… let’s just say I’m ready to move onto some abstract work that involves higher levels of labor and method of building. IF you are ever in need of an apprentice, I am SO ready to leave my parents studio and I’d pay you to let me into your realm to help out and learn from your process. I aspire to learn more about the ways of steel and gather all that I can about it’s vast possibilities. Happy holidays and thanks so much for being such an amazing visionary in a time that demands new imaginations and unique ideas to munch on.
take care,
