Good abstract work is anything but arbitrary. The movement of a single line by just a smidge is the difference between “good” and “meh.” That is the distance that matters; that is the gap that holds the key to making something worthwhile.

All the infrastructure, all the tools, all the time in the world do not matter if you cannot cross that gap. But in that void there is beauty and ecstasy. That is the distance that tells me I’m on the right track. And that is the distance, though it may “objectively” be small, it midas well be the Grand Canyon if you are unable or unwilling to cross it.
