I’ll be at our local ING Cafe for the Art Crawl this evening from 4-10pm. I don’t get a chance to participate in these that often, but when they called me up and asked if I’d be their featured artist, I quickly agreed. The rest of the Art Crawl will continue on Saturday, but this […]
Last weekend the whole family took a short trip up to the Park Point Art Fair in Duluth. We were a little anxious after seeing the massive flooding there on the news, but after confirming our campsite was dry and the show was still on, we loaded into the truck and hit the road. The […]
I’ve been back for a week and a half or so now but I’ve been consumed by planting trees. I have approximately 800 in the ground with only 100 or so to go. A full update on that project, along with drawings and images of the broad landscape design, will come later. Right now it’s […]
I’ll be at the 18th Annual Sculpture Invitational in Hillsborough, NC this upcoming weekend. It’s always a great show full of wonderful people and beautiful work – what more can you ask for?
This weekend I’ll be at the beautiful Plaza Art Fair in Kansas City, MO. If you’re in the area, stop by booth #110 and say Hi. There’s going to be some great work there and the weather looks very promising as well. September 23, 24 & 25 Friday: 5 – 10pm Saturday: 10am – 10pm […]
I just returned from installing a solo show at Upper Iowa University in Fayette. Well, perhaps not that little… I brought 15 works in all and they filled out the space beautifully. The hospitality and response was great, just a wonderful trip.
Last week I dropped off Nighthawk at the Elmhurst Art Museum for the Chicago Sculpture International exhibition. Named the “Best Suburban Art Museum in Chicago” by Chicago Magazine, it is a beautiful little museum located in one of the only three houses in the US designed by Mies van der Rohe. The show will run […]
This Friday is the opening reception for The Precious Object, a group exhibition I’m a part of at the Minneapolis Central Library organized by the Walker Art Center and mnartists.org. Bringing together a diverse group of artists, it looks to be a really interesting show. Stop by later in October for some panel discussions on […]
The whole family at the installation of Nighthawk for SculptureWalk in Sioux Falls, SD.
It’s that time of the year again for Art in the Garden, the Fifteenth Annual Sculpture Invitational, in Hillsborough, North Carolina. If you find yourself near the Triangle Area the weekend of May 2-3, stop by, say hi, and check out some great sculpture. Rain or shine, a great time is always had by all. […]
Before the opening at SCSU this afternoon, I took some installation shots as well as images of a few pieces that were so new that I hadn’t even documented them yet. The large white piece you see in the foreground is a good example. I finished it only a couple weeks before I had to […]
Today was the day to deliver and install the works for my solo exhibition at SCSU’s Atwood Memorial Center Gallery. After several trips to the gallery, I got them all there and we even had the layout and most of the lighting done by the time I left. The show is a nice mix of […]
If you’re in the Grand Rapids, MI area, check out the group exhibition, Chicago Sculpture International – 2008 Juried Exhibition, that I have a piece in at Calvin College. There should be plenty of other sculpture-related activities in the area to coincide with the International Sculpture Center Conference going on there.
In 2004, I was awarded a Travel & Study Grant by the General Mills and Jerome Foundations to visit outdoor sculpture parks, museums, and studios from here to the East Coast. During the month of June, I spent 20 days on the road, along with my wife, to accomplish that task. From Minnesota to New […]
