New Sculpture and New Injury

And I was making such good progress…

Started a new sculpture a couple days ago and it was really coming together.  After overcoming the initial resistance of beginning (which never goes away, no matter how many pieces I’ve completed) I was finding my way with no more than the usual fits and starts.  Some things were changed, some undone, and some elegance was discovered that caught me off guard.

And then I woke up and could barely hobble out of bed.  I suspect the support in my shoes finally failed me, and painfully so.  I lost a couple days to ice and elevating my legs.  Never fails… despite the many inherently dangerous things I’m constantly engaged in, something unexpected, and usually mundane, is my undoing.

I did have the chance to take a look at some new time-lapse images I’m compiling.  My hope is to create another stop-motion video, but this time of a piece from start to finish.  We’ll see how it goes, but here’s a sneak peak.  (The new sculpture-in-progress is the rod-frame piece to the right.  You’ll notice it bears a striking resemblance to the drawing on the table.)
